Tillandsia Ehlersiana

Tillandsia Ehlersiana

Prof. Werner Rauh (Germany) gave the name Tillandsia Ehlersiana to honor Renate and Klaus Ehlers. This species is indigenous to Mexico, where it thrives at heights of up to 700 meters above sea level (on or among rocks). This magnificent plant has a bulbous base, thick, silvery leaves coated with trichomes, and it grows rather tall. A spike of purple tubular blooms with a light pink inflorescence is produced by it. This plant grows slowly and eventually forms a sizable, stunning cluster. This species' ability to create accidental offsets before the plant blooms is an intriguing trait. They are commonly known as hair or sucker puppies, and they typically develop far more slowly than conventional pups (which emerge after the plant blooms).

Position

This plant should not be kept inside. They should have excellent ventilation and bright, indirect sunshine. We advise putting this species in locations like a shadehouse, under a tree, or in a covered outdoor space like a deck or patio. Keep in mind that protection against frost is necessary when installing outdoors in colder climates.

Watering

A plant in a hot location will often need watering every two to three days. In a dim, muggy climate, weekly watering is frequently sufficient. The plant can be misted or submerged to achieve this. Use a hose if you're outside. When soaking a plant, immerse it in a basin of water for 10 to 20 minutes, then shake off the extra water. Between waterings, air plants want to totally dry out, and they must never have water pool at the base of the plant since this will make the plant rot.

Fertilization

During the summer, we advise fertilizing your air plants once every two weeks, and during the winter, once every month. In our "Decor" area, we offer Air Plant Fertilizer, which may be diluted to make 1L of fertilizer.

Depending on the season, each live plant might change significantly in size, color, or form. When available, flowering plants are supplied.
